Introduction--What We're Up To

The Fault in Our Stars is the 4th novel published by author John Green which was released on January 10, 2012. The main characters are two star-crossed teenage cancer patients living in Indianapolis, Indiana. This is an extremely well written book and is my fifteen year old daughter's favorite. Her fondness for this book is certainly deserved as the characters are well developed, the prose is interesting and witty, and the subject matter is gripping.  While it is fiction you will come to care about the two main characters, Hazel Grace Lancaster and Augustus Waters.  The book truly fits the tired cliche, "I laughed, I cried, it became a part of me".

The fictional hero and heroine, Hazel and Augustus, live on the north side of Indianapolis and there are several specific and real places where scenes in the book take place. We became determined to venture to Indianapolis and set out on a quest to visit some of these locations. It helped that I am from Indianapolis and we had already planned a trip there to visit my mother, sister, and aunt.  It also helped that the locations mentioned in the book are all within a stone's throw from my sister's house and it really helped that my sister actually worked at one of these locations which would otherwise not have been that easy to gain access.  So, off we go then!  To proceed please click on  this link: "First Stop The Heart of Jesus"

  5. I realize it's been a year since the last post. I trust this message will find you still having adventures with your daughter--too cool a dad for that. Am putting together FIOS bus tour (www.circlecitytours.com) and would like to reference your wonderful blogspot and share with our PAX. Let me know if you have objections. Thx
