Resurrecting the Lost Art of the Midrange Jumper

After our hero and heroine meet at the cancer support group session Augustus invites Hazel to his house to watch a movie.  While there she spies basketball trophies whereupon Augustus explains "I was, like the prototypical white Hoosier kid....I was all about resurrecting the lost art of the midrange jumper, but then one day I was shooting free throws--just standing at the foul line at the North Central gym shooting from a rack of balls."

Now this is the part where my sister really came in handy as she had just retired from teaching English at North Central High School and put off turning in her keys until our visit.

So look out NCHS here we come!

"I was all about resurrecting the lost are of the midrange jumper,"

"but then one day I was shooting free throws--just standing at the foul line at the North Central gym"

The book, the gym, and the free throw line:

Scoring' some sweet North Central swag!

  1. I play volleyball for Brebeuf, and we played North Central two weeks ago. As soon as our bus pulled into the school, I turned to one of my teammates who read TFiOS during the summer, and said, "I don't know if I can focus knowing we're playing in the former school of Augustus Waters." But we won, so all was grand.
